Uganda
Residents of Bruce Corner Village, Soroti, Uganda, established Soroti Childcare and Education Project (SCEP) over the last decade to provide care for children orphaned by war and disease. Soroti situated in the north of Uganda a former conflict region is gradually returning to normality with civil society beginning to assert itself through peaceful and productive discourse. SCEP is registered in Uganda as a company with charitable objectives. SCEP main focus is delivering residential care to twelve children, and emergency accommodation for a maximum number of four young people. The project also provides broader community development support through its outreach programme. This programme includes transport and carriage services delivered to farmers in the surrounding areas. Soroti Voices the video is SCEP appeal to the global community for funding support. The video provides close details on the items for which funding will be used and reveals the difficult living conditions that they have to endure. The SCEP is appealing for funds £50,000 to consolidate its development: the completion of its building programme started four years ago and running cost of maintaining the establishment over the next three years are its immediate priorities. The acquisition of a pickup truck is also a priority, and would ensure that the transport and carriage services are placed on a prpoer footing. |
